During its 20-year history, Breton Communications has expanded on its role as a trade magazine publisher and now offers print and digital magazines in both French and English, an electronic news bulletin and multiple web sites including an online optical directory as well as a vision care employment portal.

Our Team

Martine Breton


President and Founder of Breton Communications, Martine Breton has over 25 years of experience in optical publishing and communications. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Université de Montréal, she launched her own company in 1995 and has since gone on to develop an innovative and highly successful line of products and services geared toward the vision care industry. She is an executive board member of the Eye Disease Foundation, a member of the Optical Women’s Association (OWA) as well as the Canadian Coalition of Eye Care Professionals (CCECP).

Vanessa Pelletier


Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Computation Arts, Vanessa Pelletier has accumulated a lot of experience in IT. She then enters the optical industry in November 2016 as a Media and Web Coordinator at Breton Communications. In 2018, she become Project Manager.

Marco Gagnon


At the age of 10, Marco was already an artist. He used to draw cartoons and write stories which he sold to other student for 10 cents. No need to say that when the time came to choose a career, Marco, without any hesitation, decided to enter the fascinating world of advertising by becoming a graphic designer. The improvements in the software and printing technologies have contributed to Marco’s dream of representing reality through art; his ultimate mean of communication.

Evolution

1995 – Breton Communications is officially launched and henceforth secures former publisher Publiédition’s data base and contract for Opti-Guide Canadian Optical Supplier Directory as well as Coup d’oeil magazine.

1997 – Mandated to produce the Opticians Association of Canada publications, Vision Magazine and La Revue.

2004 – Launches www.Opti-Guide.com, the online version of Opti-Guide Canadian Optical Suppliers Guide.

2004 – Establishes a bi-weekly electronic news bulletin, Opti-News.

2005 – Initiates Opti-Promo, an email marketing resource.

2009 – Complete redesign of www.Opti-Guide.com with increased functionality and a more user-friendly interface.

2011 – Develops Envision: seeing beyond and EnVue : voir plus loin, independent vision care trade magazines and the first in the country to be distributed in digital format.

2012 – Breton Communications is named a finalist in the annual Dunamis Competition held by the Laval Chamber of Commerce. The company was recognized in the category of Service Provider – up to 15 employees.

2012 – Creates Breton-Stats, a market research tool, and distributes the first-ever survey of Canadian eyecare professionals.

2013Envision: seeing beyond magazine successfully completes its first Alliance for Audited Media (AAM) audit and qualifies for membership.

2014 – Launches www.BretonJobs.com, a bilingual niche website designed to facilitate the recruiting process for Canadian optical employers and job seekers.

2014 – Implements new Opti-Promo email marketing platform in accordance with Canadian Anti-Spam Law C-28.

2015 – Employment portal www.BretonJobs.com successfully partners with multiple industry organizations and becomes a preferred vendor for several optical buying groups.
